Trekking Permit fees

The Department of Immigration (Kalikasthan, Dillibazar, Kathmandu) issues permit for foreign tourists who intend to trek in controlled areas of Nepal. A trekking permit is a must to travel to controlled areas mentioned below.
Permit however is issued only to groups. Individual trekkers will not be issued trekking permit.
Following are the controlled areas and required fees:

Cost of trekking permits for Conservation Areas and National Parks
1) Annapurna Conservation Area Project
(Double fee levied if permit issued from field checkpoints)
Trekking entry fee (per person per entry)
Foreign Nationals: NRs 2,000
SAARC Nationals: NRs 200

2) Kanchenjunga Conservation Area
Trekking entry fee (per person per entry)
Foreign Nationals: NRs 3,000
SAARC Nationals: NRs 1500

3) Langtang National Park main trekking routes:
I) Langtang Valley
II) Helambu
III) Gosaikunda Lake regions
Trekking entry fee (per person per entry)
Foreign Nationals: NRs 3,000
SAARC Nationals: NRs 1500

4) Makalu-Barun National Park
Trekking entry fee (per person per entry) NRs 3,000

5) Manaslu Conservation Area
Trekking entry fee (per person per entry)
Foreign Nationals: NRs 2,000
SAARC Nationals: NRs 200

6) Sagarmatha National Park
Trekking entry fee (per person per entry) NRs 3,000 SAARC Nationals: NRs 1500


Cost of Special Trekking Permits (STP)
Special trekking permits are required to visit designated areas of Nepal and are issued by the Department of Immigration. These designated areas are open only for group trekkers. Permits should only be acquired through registered trekking agencies in Nepal. Resident diplomats are exempt from this type of permit. Read the following information for more details.

1) Baihang, (District)
Kanda, Saipal, Dhuli (VDC)
Trekking permit fee per person
US $90 for the first 7 days and thereafter
US$15 per day

2) Darchula (district)
Byas (VDC)
Trekking permit fee per person
US $90 for the first 7 days and thereafter
US $15 per day

3) Dolakha (district)
Gauri Shankar and Lamabagar
Trekking permit fee per person
US $10 per 7 days

4) Dolpa (District)
Trekking permit fee per person
Upper Dolpa US$500 for the first 10 days and thereafter US $50 per day
Lower Dolpa US $10 per 7 days

5) Gorkha (District)
Chhekampar and Chunchet VDC (Sirdibas,Lokpa, Chumling, Chhekampar, Nile, Chhule) Trekking permit fee per person
From Sep to Nov US $35 for first 8 days
From Dec to Aug US $25 for first 8 days
Manaslu Trekking permit fee per person
From Sep to Nov US $70 for the first 7 days and thereafter US $10 per day
From Dec to Aug US $50 for the first 7 days and thereafter US $7 per day

6) Humla (district)
(Simikot and Yari) Limi and Muchu VDC and area to Tibet via Tangekhola, Darma VDC

7) Manang (district)
Nar, Phu and Northern area of Tilche village, Thochhe VDC

8) Mugu (District)
Mugu, Dolpu, Pulu and Bhangri
Trekking permit fee per person
US$90 for the first 7 days and thereafter US $15 per day

9) Mustang (District)
Upper Mustang
Trekking permit fee per person
US $500 for the first 10 days and thereafter US $50 per day

10) Rasuwa (District)
Thuman and Timure
Trekking permit fee per person
US $10 per 7 days

11) Sankhuwasabha (District)
Makalu region (Kimathanka, Chepuwa, Hatiya and Pawakhola VDC)
Trekking permit fee per person
US $10 per 7 days for the first 4 weeks and thereafter US $20 per 7 days

12) Solukhumbu (District)
Everest region (all North-West areas from Thame to Nangpala of Namche VDC)
Trekking permit fee per person
US $10 per 7 days for the first 4 weeks and thereafter US $20 per 7 days

13) Taplejung (District)
Kanchenjunga region (Olangchunggola, Lelep, Papung and Yamphudin VDC)
Trekking permit fee per person
US $10 per 7 days

Note:
a. To get a group trekking permit an application form with other relevant documents should be submitted through any registered trekking agency of Nepal.
b. Trekking fee can be paid in Nepalese currency: Notwithstanding anything written in above, the Indian citizen can pay in Nepalese currency equivalent to US Dollars.
